How Clearwater Spray Foam Insulation Works

Clearwater Spray Foam Insulation insulates and air seals homes across Clearwater and the surrounding towns of Pinellas, west Hillsborough and south Pasco. We spray open-cell and closed-cell foam, insulate attic floors and roof decks, add blown-in fiberglass or cellulose where it is the smarter buy, insulate block and frame walls during remodels, and pull out old insulation that is wet, matted, contaminated or simply in the way.

Most of the houses we see were built for a climate where the job is keeping heat out, not in. In Clearwater, August afternoons average about 90F and the Tampa airport records an August dew point of 73F, so the attic over a typical ranch house is an oven for half the year and the air leaking into the living space is full of moisture. Air conditioners work hardest in exactly those months. Our work is aimed at that load: shading the house from its own roof, stopping humid air from sneaking in, and keeping ductwork from sitting in a superheated attic when we can.

What a visit looks like

We come to the house before we give a number. Most visits cover the attic first: how deep the current insulation is, whether it is fiberglass batts, loose fill or something older, where the air handler and ducts sit, and whether there are signs of roof leaks, rodent activity or storm water. We look at the ceiling penetrations that leak the most air: can lights, bath fans, the attic hatch, plumbing stacks and the top plates of interior walls. If a wall or garage is part of the job, we look at that too.

Then we lay out the options in writing. On many Pinellas homes, sealing the attic floor and blowing loose fill to a deeper level is the economical answer. On others, especially where the air handler and ducts live in the attic, moving the insulation up to the underside of the roof deck makes more sense. If both would work, the quote shows both.

How we work

  • Look first. No phone quotes for whole-house work; we measure and inspect.
  • Put it in writing. Each area on the quote lists the material, thickness or depth, target R-value and price.
  • Seal, then insulate. Air leaks are closed before new insulation covers them.
  • Point out problems. Roof leaks, damp sheathing, damaged ducts, pest activity and suspect old materials are flagged before we cover anything.
  • Protect the house. Floors and belongings are covered, the work area is closed off and ventilated, and you know when it is safe to come back in.
  • No surprise charges. Work starts after you approve the written quote, and changes are agreed in writing first.
